"View New Posts"

Recommended Posts

On the right side you will see "View New Content". You can set this option two ways. Click your name, choose "Settings". Scroll down the page a bit and you will see Search Settings

and then: View New Content Method

One choice in the drop down menu says "show me all content since my last visit" and the other says "show me all content I have not read". You decide what works best for you, then click the "update settings" at the bottom of the page.

Hey, fill out your profile while you are in there. Give people your links, pics and some general information so you don't feel like a stranger.

Now that we seem to have everything in order, I'm going to get busy with the new galleries. We also have three reknowned teachers coming here to help us- Paul Burnett, the first Al Stohlman Award Winner and top rate instructor, the one and only Bobby Park from Arizona who just knows stuff and doesn't mind telling, and Jim Beaton, "JimSaddler", a President of The Saddle & Harness Maker Association of Australia. There is more, but I can't talk about it yet. :) I'm excited about all the things going on at LW! None of this would be possible without our contributing members and sponsors- can they have a round of applause, please? clapping.gif LW is about to get even more fun and educational- thanks to all of you who make this possible.

Nice but, that is not quite the same as what a couple of us asked about. On prior version, if you were reading a long post with many replies, there was a "View New Posts" at the bottom. Just like the one at the top of the forum and they one currently called "View New Content". But, the one at the bottom of actual posts is not there,,,,,or somehow I'm not seeing it. A couple years ago I believe the "view new posts" was like it is now only at the top. Then, you (or someone) added that feature at the bottom of each post also so you don't have to scroll to the top to select "view new posts" again, it was right there. Surely I'm not dreaming ,,,,am I zzzzzz,, zzzzzz,,zzzzzzzzzzzz

Everything is looking good and working well on my end (except this one little feature). Speed & function for me with Vista & XP using IE8 is at least as good as before.

Really looking forward to those additional exciting things.

Hope you and all the support folk are catching up on your sleep and getting to know your family again. thumbsup.gifcheers.gif

Thanks,

Regis

I remember what you are talking about Regis. There was also a "back to top" icon at the bottom left side of the post 'blocks'. The 'back to top' has been relocated to the bottom left of the page. All you need to do is scroll down a little past the bottom of the last post and click on it.

Yep, saw the "Back to Top", but, it's not as handy as going back to New Post list. Maybe that feature is no longer available but, this was 1st chance AFTER the real problems to bring it up with explaination.

I know what you mean now, Regis- the nav bar. I used it a lot too. I'll put it back...somehow...give me a little time.

To Ms Johanna and Crew, many thanks for the awesome site. It is coming along and I hope more of us keep making suggestions to make it better without get impatience. Keep up the good work.

As for the instructors: I want to personally thank Mr. Paul Burnett and Mr. Bobby Park for sharing some of their knowledge with us. Mr. Jim, I hope to learn much from your knowledge base. I am getting to "reading" about making saddles. I have a book & kit coming from Australia on how to make a small english type saddle, which I am going to try out. As for the Western Saddle, I am reading Mr. Beatie's book and still in Volume 1 of the Stohlman book. But to get back into what I was going to say. I just appreciate you sharing your knowledge. I know that many moons ago, this knowledge was not freely shared and that is unfortunately because as with everything it is part of our history. Now, we are hearing about some of the great master leathercraftsman and tool maker leaving us, which is very sad, but what is more sad is the extensive knowledge they take with them when so many of us would suck it up like a sponge. I mean, (as one thread offer to pay a master saddle maker to become their apprentice.) who would go to this extend to wanna learn? This is like telling our employers, we are going to pay you for giving us a job? I know that I cannot convince masters such as yourself to share their knowledge, but please do so on your own to tell your counterparts that here lies a basis where people wanna learn!

I recently read an old story about Al Stohlman where he was telling someone that he had so many ideas to share about leather craft. His ideas included some 20-30 more books on how to manipulate leather. Man, that is a lot of knowledge that such a man wants to share. In his volume one, Al and Ann state several times their idea of making the saddle book a volume "set." I wonder exactly how many more volumes they had planned on making? Maybe some day this craft will become freely shared generational craft for all those who want to learn.

Sorry, I got long winded. Kind regards.

Thanks! When the new version went live without the View New button, it was like missing an old friend.
