Ambassador pete Posted October 23, 2009 Ambassador Report Posted October 23, 2009 I went to a tool supply house this morning. Went to get a socket set and spent $23.00 instead of the $38.00 they wanted for it at True Temper/Ace down the street. As I was walking out I saw a little blister-pak on a peg. Machine hardened punches. Hmmmmm. I was thinking about an Osborne bag punch but thought that I needed so many sizes, and always hand punched and cut between the holes. These are sharp!!! and solid. I got a pack of punches from 1/8 to 1/2" for $2.45!!!! It's made by Pit Bull tools. Now I'll never need a bag punch. ps- found a new 1lb deadblow hammer for $6.00 pete Quote
Members CitizenKate Posted October 23, 2009 Members Report Posted October 23, 2009 Hmmm... wonder if you could make stamping tools from those, too? Kate Quote
Contributing Member barra Posted October 23, 2009 Contributing Member Report Posted October 23, 2009 I too have a range of those cheap wad punches that you can pick up at just about any hardware store. I think they are just fine for certain applications. For example I use them in my drill press. If the punch does stuff out then for a few bucks you can just get another blister pack. I also have them in my travelling tool kit. Barra Quote
Members Stevesleather Posted October 29, 2009 Members Report Posted October 29, 2009 I just picked up a rubber mallet (2 pounder) for about 2 dollars and change at the discount tool place. If you don't mind the off brands, sometimes they are just as good...as long as it isn't tooling. Quote
