if you got a F150 and get a recall from ford that it my just start on fire. GET IT CHECKED OUT RIGHT AWAY!!! this last thur. i parked my truck in the parking lot. got ready to go into the store. got half way there for some reason i turned around looked back at my truck and it was on fire. and in only took a couple min. and it burned to the ground.and i lost every thing. body shop said 20.000 and counting to fix. i have it insured so thank God for that. i really thank God it wasn't parked in my garage or my house would have went up to.. they think something under my dash shorted out..so if you have a ford truck take it back and get it checked out.. after looking on the net(never thinking to look before)there a lots of fire that start for no reason..i hope this may help some one else before it happens to them.. :bawling:

This has been going on for years, it is a Ford problem, not a Ford truck problem. I don't remember the time span, but it covers about 15-20 years of Fords. If they had been required to recall all of the affected vehicles Ford would have declared bankruptcy, so the feds allowed them to only recall a select number of the affected cars. Generally the fires happen when the cars have been turned off, thus all of the deaths it has caused when people park the cars in the garage and a few hours later when they are asleep, the house burns. If you do a web search there is lots of information out there about this issue.

The odd side of this is I drive a Fiero (it is nicknamed the rolling ball of flame). Everyone "knows" that they all burst into flames, but statistically Fords burn way more often than Fiero's ever did. You rarely ever hear that reported.

The brother-in-law's Ford truck burned to a crisp a few months ago. Something with the ignition switch, I think. It was old, but insured. He got over 5K for a truck I wouldn't have paid $50 for.
