Members Reanne Posted August 7, 2015 Members Report Posted August 7, 2015 Hi, I read this thread a whille back and would really like to add a spoked handwheel to my motorised 99k. I've bought the spoked handwheel, but to fit it needs a smaller belt. Can anyone advise how I figure out the belt size? And once I have the belt, is it pretty simple to just swap the wheel and the belt over? Many thanks! Quote

Since the manual was created by a non-profit, I made a contribution. http://www.tfsr.org/publications/technical_information/sewing_machine_manual/ Quote
Members Darren Brosowski Posted August 9, 2015 Members Report Posted August 9, 2015 18g leather needles should be pretty common. Oh, thank'sI'm looking for needles with a large enough eye for a bit thinker tread. The only leather needle I can get here is numbered "90/14". If you say number 18 fits this machine I'll go for that one. The hole in the plate is rather small and I suppose some needles get to large for this machine? So far I've mostly used a leather needles that came with the machine but I've managed to bend it, and there's no number. Quote
Members Darren Brosowski Posted August 9, 2015 Members Report Posted August 9, 2015 Move the motor all the way up and the measure the belt length with a piece of string. I have about 10 sizes of belt Darren Goulburn NSW 0415 353 748 Hi, I read this thread a whille back and would really like to add a spoked handwheel to my motorised 99k. Members Darren Brosowski Posted August 9, 2015 Members Report Posted August 9, 2015 There are two types of bobbin winder used on the 99k and the older, most common type will not work with most of the spoked balance wheels available as there is not enough adjustment. The simplest fix - if you have this problem is to remove the adjustment screw in the guard, swing the bobbin winder into a working position and mark a new hole. Take the guard off and drill and tap a 3/16" hole. As there is no boss in this position you will need a couple of washers behind the sector arm to support it. Quote
