esantoro Posted November 8, 2009 Report Posted November 8, 2009 I've been using a flex shaft rotary tool for several months now and don't know why I had waited so long to get one. I figure I should be taking out the flex shaft and oiling it at least twice a year. Is there a good general lubricant I can use or should I get the lubricant that Foredom sells? Thanks, Ed Quote
Ambassador Luke Hatley Posted November 8, 2009 Ambassador Report Posted November 8, 2009 Ed i use the Lithium (sp) WHITE GREASE ON MINE. Quote
esantoro Posted November 13, 2009 Author Report Posted November 13, 2009 Thanks, Luke. I was close to using the grease I use for my speed reducer, but I had read warnings not to do so, something about heat build up. Do you think it matters whether I get the spray on or rub on lithium white grease, as some places have only the spray on? My thinking is that a tub of the rub on grease would be best. Ed Quote
Members McJeep Posted November 13, 2009 Members Report Posted November 13, 2009 if heat build up is an issue, maybe try graphite powder instead of grease? Quote
esantoro Posted November 22, 2009 Author Report Posted November 22, 2009 Thanks for the info. I did manage to pick up some lithium white grease in a spray can. I have yet to take out the flex shaft cable and apply the grease, but the kitchen cabinets no longer squeak. ed Quote
