Good Morning Leather World,

I hope everyone had a great holiday. This is my newest creation. I made a tube style purse and an oval bottom. The top of the bag I v gauged and I cut out a leaf pattern. When I lined the bag with the gold pig skin suede I continued it onto the outer leaf that shows. The finishing touches of paint added to the leaf design. I carved this particular fairy because as soon as I saw her she reminded me of my own thought processes and made her blond because this one is mine. I prefer the muted fall colors to all others. I used the largest amber colored jewel rivets I could find for feet. I am in love with the mystery braid and will use it for awhile,(till I learn a new trick) so,I used that braid for straps. I took a gel stain and added water to it. Before you cringe at that thought , let me just say I got the desired effect. I wanted the straps to resemble bark or grain of a tree. The gel does not allow all of the water to dilute it. So where the stain puddled. I removed it and the effect very much looks like bark. See, not as blond as one might think. The results are pleasing to me. Also, others as I now have 6 orders for similar bags. Even 2 in pinks(rolling my eyes). I hope you guys like .

Have a great day.

Kimber

I never thought of making an tube-style purse, but I really like the idea. I especially like the coloring on the faerie.

"Before you cringe" ????? What? Looks great! I've been trying to get that effect for a while! Thanks for sharing it. What brand gel dye? I see leather occasionally with a "mottled" (sp?) look, but I haven't been able to get it to look like I want. I've tried mixing (or more like slightly stirring) different colored dyes, but it never comes out well.

How long do you let it sit on there before wiping it off?
