ABC3 Report post Posted December 27, 2009 When using Gum Tragacanth on belt edges to burnish - do you let the Gum Tag dry before burnishing it or do you burnish while wet.
Rawhide Report post Posted December 27, 2009 Burnish it while the edge is damp. Don't soak it, just enough to dampen it.
ABC3 Report post Posted December 27, 2009 Rawhide; Thanks. I have been burnishing using just water & it works out well. I'm just trying to get a better edge. So if I put the Gum on with a dauber, let set for a short period, then burnish, I'll be OK.

leatherman1457 Report post Posted January 4, 2010 If you mount your slicker in a drill(presuming you have a plastic of wood round wheel slicker) you can slick the edge a loat more and if you use it in conjunction with the gum tragacanth it will leave a very nice burnished edge.Or you can use the slicker with the black or brown edge dye finish and slick it and it works just fine. hivemind Report post Posted January 4, 2010 I haven't used gum trag in years. Spit, baby. It's all about the saliva.
