I wanted thank KAW for posting how he uses the coffee grounds to dye strings this is first set ive made using that tech. and it really turned out nice! (I think)

this is a twelve strand hackamore with an 8bight heel knot.

this is the first set of reins that i made they are 8 plait and I made them too small for normal use but I like using them with a heavy set of chains when im riding a horse in the two rein at first.

this is the first thing I ever braided and it was a major undertaking its a 4 plait reata about 50 ft. I went to slaughter house picked out the cow i wanted and after a lot of profanity this is what i got!

this is a twelve strand hackamore I really like a short nose button like this one has and I added two ring knots inside the nose button to give alittle more feel I really like it!

Cool, taking on a reata as your first project shows some guts indeed, But I bet you learned a lot from doing it.

Thanks I appreciate it! My dad made that splitter for me he worked in a paper mill and it is a copy of one Bill Dorrance used in a video I saw. I will try and get a couple pics of my cutter and splitter up I'm still not satisfied with what im using maybe some of you can offer some suggestions!

It takes a little more time but I like how it turns out! All you do is layer your buttons I start out tying on a ring knot then I tie a 4 bight herringbone over it then I tie my final button that is a 6 bight herr. with a reversed 2nd interweave and it looks round like that!

WOW...that is a lot of extra work!!! LOL But you are right, the results are beautiful. Your braiding is smooth and lovely but your perfect buttons set you apart! I can make 4 bite buttons that round but not 6. I imagine to get a look that smooth and perfect I will need to figure out how to use that new splitter I bought that is sitting in my work drawer. One more thing though the reverse second interweave, does that just mean you started on the opposite side as your standing string?

Thank you so much brock for your tips on round buttons!! I've done it a few times and it really makes a difference in the over all look of the button! I also learned to use my splitter so between the two my work has made quite an improvement.

Glad I could help, also been meaning to reply to your question about the reversed interweave. What you do is tie you 6 bight then do your first herr. interweave when you get ready to do your second interweave to over 3 you start on the opposite end of button and go under 4 then follow your string on the left go over 2, under 2, over 2 under 4 and it balances the interweave instead of being higher on one end and lower on the other just makes it look a little nicer if you are adding color!

Thanks Brock...Again I added 1 zig zag for the second interweave in most of them. I started on the reverse like you said and it was dead center I believe. I also figured out if you started on the same side as the standing end I couldn't get it in the center. I was just playing around with it.
