It is very similar to the Singer 45K25 which was used as the Saddlers second Machine for a great many years. Used slow they are very good for sewing most Leathers but not Wool on Sheep Skin. I find them more accurate when Sewing Winker Eye Decoration and the like. Years ago I used a 45K exclusively for sewing Pouches and other Bag Gussets. With the new Servo Motors they are easy to use. I am still experimenting with setup and sewing speeds so can't really comment on that area. Quote

It goes thru 16 oz of leather like it is soft butter. Two pieces of 4 oz leather won't be a problem. Once you get the thread tension set for what your sewing they run great. I find that I need to oil my machine each time I use it, if it's been a few days or week since it was last used. It will do 3/8 leather with no problems. Hope this helps. Quote
Members unlucky Posted February 18, 2010 Members Report Posted February 18, 2010 I have one, and I love it. I've backed 17 oz. skirting with chap leather - no problem at all. I also use it for sewing messenger bags with 346/277 on 2 layers of 7 oz veg tan. It works amazing. It's easy to use, easy to adjust. I have no complaints at all. Quote
