TomSwede Report post Posted January 24, 2010 Most people seem to agree on kangaroo lace being the strongest lace...also most expensive!!! Tom

kevinhopkins Report post Posted January 24, 2010 I have no access of thids type of leather here....... Hi... Cowhide or horse will work as well, and so will goat. The trick is to get a piece of leather, no matter what kind it is, that is tanned so that it will actually make good lace. It needs to be tight grained. After a little experience, you'll know what to look for. Sorry you can't get kangaroo....it certainly is the best in my opinion. Kevin
Guardrail Report post Posted January 25, 2010 I have no access of thids type of leather here....... Go to http://www.hidecrafter.com/hci/index.php?page=shop.browse&category_id=56&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=35 and order on line. This takes you straight to the lace section with several pages of different types, width and spool length so watch all these areas to get the color, width you need to use. Get natural when you can and dye it to match. It's 40 miles each way to a Tandy or Hidecrafter shop in Kansas City from where I'm at. May take a couple of days longer than traveling but shipping offsets what it would cost me to travel and they have just about anything you would need. You can go to Tandy also but they send the order to the nearest Tandy dealer in the state you live so you get sales tax tacked on too. If your just starting and want to practive start with the cheaper stuff. Ron
rickeyfro Report post Posted January 25, 2010 I use alot of Tandy 3/16 Florentine unless the customer wants to pay the extra for kangaroo, Ive never had any problems other than the occasional spool that seems to have a splice every couple of yards
