Who Do You Use?

I have had Dish Network for a number of years & they keep raising the prices. I called to re-negotiate price (they constantly are advertising low, low prices to attract new customers), & the customer rep was nasty, & didn't want to make a deal at all. All I can get in this area is Dish, Direct TV & Atlantic Broadband (where I live,antenna is NOT an option).

I need to know who is the most flexible & the most reasonable. (I don't need all the sports HBO, etc).

Any & all help is appreciated. Thanks in advance

the basic package from direct tv works great for me.......a first timer with them you will get some special deals......

Actually baring about 50 hours a year of educational material I don't see it as beneficial monetarily speaking. So I don't use any.

I don't even have a TV license.

I do watch things in other peoples houses, but most of the shows I do have an interest in bring out good quality DVDs soon enough, so why should I pay for 3 lots of 6-8 minutes of advertising in a single hour...

Though in saying this I did work for a call centre for a while recently and I would offer only one suggestion, look around getting prices and deal offers from all of your local suppliers, then call your company again, and demand better rates, but make sure you give them full details of the competition if they are better. Chances are the people on the phone will be delighted to hear from you. Most companies like that work on commision, if they can get you hooked onto a contract for another year, be you existing customer or not, that counts as a sale...If you get a rude one, just hang up and kep trying, theres probably a hundred people waiting for your call.

I see you're in PA, so I'll say that we had Comcast cable while there and it was never a problem. Here in VA, we have a "bundled" package for phone, TV and internet (we have a cable modem) with Jetbroadband. We had Verizon initially, but their service was HORRIBLE at home. Still use them for our cellphones though.

I like bundling, we did it with Comcast too if I recall correctly. Many companies will give you special rates if you do something like that. My husband is looking into dish, but personally I think it is not worth it.

I can't believe that anyone needs a TV licence in this day and age! We did away with that many , many years ago along with the licence for a wireless. What does a licence cost?

Just so i understand you have to buy a license to watch TV and the a color license is more than a black and white license. Do you have buy the license if you use a antenna, satalite or cable ? I learn something new everday.

Ya know, I think this thread's gone off the bobbin, a bit, and I don't mean to sound crabby, but all I want to know is WHO ARE YOU MOST SATISFIED WITH AS FAR AS TV SERVICE- DISH, DIRECT TV OR ATLANTIC BROADBAND????? Comcast is not available in this area & an antenna is not an option where I live. Dish has been nasty to me and they will not make a deal- they would rather lose a long time customer over attracting first timers with low prices, so I'm probably going to change providers.

(So I really don't give a ratsass about black&white tvs or licenses...)

Okay, Whinewhine, I can see you getting a little hot under the collar, which is unusual. Dish must be really pissing you off! Personally I find it amazing that folks across the sea would have to pay for a license - but maybe it's like us paying for services here?

Anyhow, there was another company we used up in PA other than Comcast, but I'm drawing a blank on it. Oh yes, it was Service Electric. They were okay too. I don't know anything about Atlantic though. My main suggestion would be, based on my experience, to try to "bundle" a package with internet, phone and tv, if you can. I find that to be cost and service effective. My brother in law, who lives in DC, swears by dish - but then said he had to get to the thing to clear the snow off it or no tv. Not my idea of fun with all the snow we've had.

I use to have cable then went to DD and was pretty happy except for the price and the loss of signal on rainy days.

I now have Uverse and am very happy with it. Hopefully it will be offered in your area some day.
