Hi all,

I am doing a repair on a saddle with a rope edge that originally had 1/4 in metal lace. I am looking for replacement lace, ss or nickel silver. I have plenty of 3/16ths but I would really like to stay with 1/4 on this saddle if I can find it. I'm replacing the cantle wrap but the rope is in good shape and I want to leave it. It is a large diameter rope, so the 1/16ths will make a difference.

I have called Weaver, Sheridan Outfitters, Tandy, Springfield.

IF anyone has some 1/4 they could sell me, I just need enough for a couple of saddles. Or, if you know of a source, I would really appreciate it if you would pass it along.

Thanks,

Ann

I know this is an older post, but did anybody find a 1/4 metal lace? I would like some also.

I'm replying about the 1/4" ss lace. I bought out a saddle maker and got a huge roll of it. Supposed to be about 4oo feet or yrds.(?) Anyway lots of it and I don't think I'll need it all so if anyone needs some let me know. Ronny

Having not needed or seen any yet, I'm curious...is this actual SS metal lace or something like the metallic lace that Y-Knot sells? If it's real metal lace, how does it braid (like triple loop) compared to say, kangaroo? If it's similar, I might be interested in buying some from you for a project on my motorcycle.

Cheers,

Chris

This is metal and it is used on cantles of saddles with the loop roll. I can't think of any way to braid it. Sorry, Ronny

No worries, thanks for the reply and explanation. Just thought it sounded like something cool to explore. ;)

Spinner you could do the same thing that's done on a saddle but do it on the sides of the bibs you make. I bet nobody has done that.

That's kind of what I was thinking dirtclod...funny thing is, while I understood the "it's used in saddlemaking" part, the rest was as foreign to me as the inner workings of a woman's mind. ;) LOL
