How To Measure Human Fit On A Saddle?

So there are wade trees( slick fork) and there are Swell fork trees. When fitting a human to one do the same fitting rules apply to both. ie... a certain distance from the crotch area to the horn? So say that I have an 18 " swell fork. I want to buy a wade, so would I buy an 18" also?

Joel.........this is a personal preference thing, but some folks feel like they can ride a little shorter seat in a slick fork. JW
