Jimbob Report post Posted May 15, 2010 She is home....230 miles straped on the basket carrier at a JEEP. All covered and secured well, she was a heavy girl to get back out of the basket....but I took sewing head off first then stand. Now she stands here in the shop, all cleaned up, oiled well and looking like new, I love the handwheel!! Now how do you thread one like this....never had had one before...so where does the thread go?? Well there was some kind of fishhook thingy, long and wirey...so down the tube hole it goes...bobbin threaded...wow differet too....OK, will this thing sew??? Leather scrap, well let's be careful not go to thick!....now handwheel turning, hoping and: BIG surprise___that baby is actually sewing, wow!!! Stitch length is changed by this little collar on needle bar, bobbin is small! But last's pretty good while on 69... Now I am stuck, what is the little lever close to the thread pick up lever, u can change the setting from duenn, mittel and dick....that is German and means: thin, medium and thick....is revering to the material thickness???????? I have her done promised to somebody, of course for greedy provit@@@ But should I let her go...somebody will treat her bad, will not oil her well and maybe one day put her in the basement to die....once proudly made to do great work and straight stitches, to repair and to please its owner....gosh, somebody help me...I've got this sewing mashine syndrome@+!?/.@+-)):::... Bob Thanks Bob Yes I was lucky this time, this one was owned by a VERY picky shoemaker many many years ago and his nefew got it to keep, it was stored in a heated room and well taking care off.... Thanks for the hint on the take up lever stroke! It is just amazing how well these machines are build, I found this machine sews very well, in its limitations as a patcher....but well capable of doing other stitching tasks too. It did not make these nasty marks every body was talking about, but a man could see some fine marking anyway....stitch looked beautiful....lots of people denied this here on the forum. So I am very careful to make a remark...me not being a pro. But me being crazy about these machines, that's for sure, haha.....just faszinated about the art of mechanics build many moons ago, regardless of brand or country they came from!! Oh, and by the way...they all are made to create, repair or make some money for the owner, well done!! Thanks for your time Bob James
