Here is a new design I'm trying. Didn't get gusset sewn in as well as I wanted to but. design seems to work. Formed holster is Veg 8/9. Purse body is veg 5/6 and gusset is goat 3/4

Great looking bag for your first effort. The only thing I might change is the clasp on the flap. The twist style latch takes too much time to undo. When you need a gun you need it NOW! When you are in the moment of pulling a gun, your fine motor skills go out to door so the simpler to open the better. I would go with a pull the dot snap, stud, or velcro for speed of access.

Something else to look at is the strap and how to make it cut proof. I would use small diameter stranded cable sewn into the strap (but then again I'm paranoid about things like this). That will prevent someone from coming up from behind with a knife, cutting the strap and taking off with the purse. Losing a purse is bad enough but losing your gun is even worse! You can get small diameter cable from a sporting goods store (used for leader for sharp toothed fish) or a hobby shop (multiple uses on model airplanes).

The easy way to take care of the perp is to just add in a remote detonation device, with the remote on her watch. If someone runs off with the purse - good BOOM Ok, I've watched one too many movies.

Nice work on the purse. I've seen and read many stories if ladies who've been held up and it's been the action of 'digging through t heir purse for money and jewelry' that's allowed these ladies to pull out their firearm or pepper spray and get away from the perp. I wouldn't underestimate it. But, as John said, if the dude gets ahold of it and runs off, well...might be gone for good...unless.. LO Jack is installed.... :D

I like it alot, and it's a nice bersa too. The magnetic clasps would also work.

Great concept... and well executed.

As John mentioned, in a self defense situation that twist clasp could be a hindrance. While Snaps, Velcro or magnetic clasps may be a better method for securing the flap it would change the style.... so here's an 'out side the box' thought:

Mount the back of the clasp on a rectangular piece of leather with Velcro sewn to the back, then mount/sew the second half of the Velcro to the purse. You could even get fancy and cut a rectangular piece from the bag so it would recess into the bag with a large Velcro strip sewn on the inside. The clasp would still be functional for everyday use but you would also have quick easy access to your weapon in a SD situation by tearing open the flap.
