anakim Report post Posted March 16, 2013 Thanks so much Wizcrafts and Anne Bonny's Locker. I bought a new bell crank lever through a company in England, but I was unaware of this problem with the gadget on the spring at the back. Mine does indeed slide around, as the threads on the screw are nearly nonexistent, thus leaving it not doing its job well. I finally found that I was missing the bushing that fits around the needle bar, that holds the heavy piston in place. It was falling down leaving its entire weight resting on the bell crank and obviously preventing that from moving correctly. I believe I still have numerous problems to sort out and may try plating the bell crank lever as I'm not sure I trust even the "new" one. Someone suggested to me that it would be a copy several generations removed from the original part. Anyways, thanks so much again for your expert advice! anakim Report post Posted April 5, 2013 Hello, Can anyone tell me the purpose of the head revolving bush friction spring on a Singer 29K15? After purchasing a new revolving bush, the friction spring doesn't fit on properly next to it any more. Probably because the revolving bush is for a 29K71... Anyhow, everything seems to work fine without it, though I may be mistaken. I am still not getting 5 stitches to the inch, but I believe this to be a separate issue. Thanks! Desircustoms Report post Posted December 2, 2016 Hello, i bought a shoe patcher and i need some help, im posting here instead of starting a new thread as its the best Google link ive found. The patcher has been rebuilt, when i bought it it worked fine, but when i got home i couldnt get it to function properly, it seems its out of timing, ive messed around a bit with, and found that the timing is done by removing/rotating the bobbin carrier; is that correct? I think its set up the right way, the bobbin turns counter clockwise pulling on thread, and i turn the hand wheel clockwise, but i feel theres something wrong with upper end, sometimes when i pulled the thread, right before it goes it the needle, it breaks from inside the rotating cylinder, but most of time it pulls freely, think its something with the thread spool holder, as the tension knob is very loose I made a small video, hopefully someone can help me out. Thanks
Constabulary Report post Posted December 2, 2016 I don´t know what sort of patcher machine that is but it is not a Singer 29K60. I GUESS it is one of these rough Chinese patchers, right? Like this one - see linked thread? If it is the above check with LW Member Darren Brosowski he is selling them.
Wizcrafts Report post Posted December 2, 2016 DesirCustoms; This (old) topic is about a Singer 29k60 patch machine. Not all patchers are alike. The presser foot in your video is not a standard Singer foot. Please start a new topic for your other brand/model. Also, please take more photos showing the name plate, base, cylinder arm and top parts. Show a picture of how you have it threaded and measure the length of the needle. Make sure the needle is all the way up in the mounting bracket.

There is nobody I know of who knows more about these Chinese patchers than Darren Brosowski.
Desircustoms Report post Posted December 2, 2016 Ok thanks for the tip, I'll post a new thread. I'm sure it's an easy fix, as it worked properly when I bought it, and 4 minutes ago, Wizcrafts said: There are some members who own Chinese patchers and would be in a better position to assist you if you start a new topic. Yuzener Report post Posted September 2, 2022 I have just purchased 29k60. I was wondering what is the range of fabrics, and leathers this can sew? I got it for multiple purposes, but only know generally it can do what I want. Also your above needle conversation, now has me confused. Will the Leather DPX16, 135X16 Fabric DPX17, 135X17 needle sizes also work on my model? 29k60. Thank you!
shoepatcher Report post Posted September 3, 2022 Yes the 29x 3, needles basically the same as the 135 x 17, which is the same as DPx17. All round point. The 29x4, 135x16, DP x 16 are all leather points. glenn
