I took a quick look at my resource list because I can remember a dealership I met at the Texas Saddle and Boot Show last year that dealt with Buffalo leather. I couldn't find the business card or information. I do remember creating a thread on here after the show with a list of dealerships as a reference for those that could not attend. You might want to conduct a forum search (top right hand corner) and see what you can come up. I would advise to check on eBay or maybe some of our advertisers. You never know; they may not sell it but they may direct you where you need to go for it.

Best of luck

I'm surprised he has a saddle made from buffalo. Rod made one into rawhide and decided it was too thin for him to use to cover a saddle tree with, so I would think it would make a fine leather rather than a thick skirting leather which is normally used on saddles. But I could be totally wrong here. I'm sure no expert!

Hi

The Hide House in California carries a lot of pretty nice buffalo, but I do not think they cary anything that could be tooled. The samples I have are all for bag type leather.

Hi Roger, try Paul Cox in New York area, dont have any contact details but he uses Buffalo for some of his seats may be worth a call you got nothing to loose.

A question - is the gent looking for American buffalo aka Bison or is he looking for water buffalo? these are two compeletely different leathers that go by the same name......

For American buffalo check with Colorado Leather Goods http://coloradoleathergoods.com/

For Water buffalo http://www.waterhouseleather.com/water_buffalo_leather_hides.htm

Hi All,

I am looking to make wallets out of Bison. I have a few questions? I was thinking 3 to 3.5 oz. If I buy a bend will I be able to use the same piece for the inside pockets? Will it be to thick? They have some posted on the Hide House for $147 I think that was the site I checked. My second question, since I will have a lot left, can I wet mold it for small cases?

Thank you.

Jim
