abn Report post Posted September 17, 2010 Hi, Jo and Kate: I had the opportunity to use the Lo-Fi version of LW.net last night when I visited using an iPhone. The experience was actually better than I expected, with quick load times and easy-to-read text, even on a 4" screen. I don't know how much control you all have over the Lo-Fi template, but I wanted to make two recommendations for future consideration: 1. Add a "View New Content" button. (Maybe it's already there, but I couldn't find it.) 2. Make the "Sign In" link a larger font so it's easier to tap with your finger. (The same probably goes for a "Sign Out" link.) Obviously, this is all low-priority stuff, but I figured you might like to hear some feedback regarding compatibility with mobile clients. I've read that more web-enabled smartphones will be sold in the U.S. in the next two years than laptops... Definitely a shift in personal computing! Best regards, -Alex
dbusarow Report post Posted September 17, 2010 If there was a "View New Content" link I'd use LoFi when I'm on my old Mac iBook. It (iBook) works with the fancy version but is pretty slow. I'd happily give up most of the window dressing in exchange for the snappy load time if I could just get the new posts. Dan
abn Report post Posted September 23, 2010 I noticed the following comment in another post, and figured I'd share it here since it's related to this topic, as well. I was killing time in line at Starbucks this morning and since I don't get the full forum setting on my Itouch, I had to go line through line...I sure have missed a lot of posts.... Johanna Report post Posted September 23, 2010 Thanks Alex- you're right about the shift. My 12 year old carries the Internet in her pocket. I will see what can be done with the lo-fi version. To be honest, I've not given it much thought or investigation, so I'm glad you mentioned it. Johanna
abn Report post Posted September 24, 2010 Thanks, Jo. I think any investment in making the site more "mobile-friendly" is a very good one. It frees your readers from being locked to either their office or home PCs, and allows them to access LW.net content at the coffee shop, bookstore, on the subway, in the grocery store line, etc... Let me know if there's anything I can do to help test! I'm an iPod Touch user, myself.
Johanna Report post Posted September 24, 2010 Alex- I'm going to take you up on that! As I start tweaking, your feedback is especially important because you know how the board looks in regular mode. You are right- it's the future. ~J
King's X Report post Posted September 24, 2010 (in the blind) ~ Thanks for picking up on that for me.

King's X Report post Posted September 24, 2010 Okay, I took a look and am now using it. I have another suggestion? How about a 'next' button at the bottom where the pages are listed instead of an 'end?' Just a thought
Johanna Report post Posted September 29, 2010 http://community.invisionpower.com/topic/314362-ipboard-iphone-app-updated/ It looks like you get it from Apple, not us? ~J
AndyL1 Report post Posted September 29, 2010 (edited) Just to chime in, I sometimes browse the forum on my iPod Touch and an iPad and both ways are perfect. I'm viewing the full site in the normal way on both devices. -Andy Experimental edit: Just added this bit of text via my iPod Touch. 8thsinner Report post Posted September 29, 2010 It would be nice also for older phones to have the lofi recognise a Mobile being used, otherwise when I go from there to here I have to check out of the lofi version just because I was signed into it before.
