cem Report post Posted September 30, 2010 Just wondering has anyone used Ohio Travel Bags screw in Grommets http://www.ohiotravelbag.com/FlipBook/hardware%20catalog%20p210/index.html (page 11 of catalogue if link doesn't work). I don't use alot of eyelets and grommets so don't want to invest in a press just yet and I hate doing them with the mallet anvils. So I was hoping someone might of used the screw ins and can tell me what they are like, it's going on a 5.5oz wallet back to attach a wallet chain. Thankyou for any help Cheers, Clair
donna Report post Posted October 21, 2010 I have not used them but have been seriously eyeing them. If the thickness of the eyelet works for your use and I think I would put a dablet of some sort of glue in there as well (super?). Spinner Report post Posted October 21, 2010 I used some on a woodworking project a few years back and have used them when I was installing car stereo systems years ago. They are great to use, very easy. You might need to get a bigger punch depending on what size you're looking at (they work better when the holes are precise) and a tip: put a small bit of locktite on them when assembling to keep them from untwisting as the chain works back and forth often...will help keep them from unscrewing over time. cem Report post Posted October 22, 2010 Thankyou Donna & Spinner I ended up going with the mallets one though that is if my order ever gets posted from another supplier. I had quite a few things to order and was able to get everything at one place but I will definately be looking at them again for another project.
