I've been communicating with our expatriot leather friend Nicolas, in the far east, Shanghai I think he said.

The discussion has been about boot making and certain aspects of construction.

There is more to the subject than can be put up at any one point, however I am willing to share what I can.

Recently we were talking about preparing the insole, the foundation of the boot,

and I offered to share a presentaion on my approach to the subject.

It is presented here. I hope you find it informative.

Comments and questions are welcome.

Thank you Paul for the lesson! I learned a lot. I hope you find time for other segments, this is so informative and helps build confidence for those of us interested in boot making.

Thanks again,

Rick J.

Thank you for the great lesson Paul.

Do you know of any sources that show how to make lasts? It seems that buying them is the only way to go.

Thanks again, Moe.

Thanks Rick,

Glad to share.

Hey, I still have that Clicker. Want to renew that conversation?

Moe,

There is only one sourse I know of.

Walrus Shoe Company sells a book by George Koleff:

http://www.walrussho...pages/lasts.htm

I know of several who have used it successfully.

Tell Larry I sent you.

I have pictures of the process of fitting up the last,

that is showing how I build a core size to a custom fit.

Any interest in seeing a presentaion of that?

For further information on insoles and techniques, please visit the Crispin Colloquy,

http://www.thehcc.org/discus/messages/4/1080.html?1288494144

It is the forum for discussion for the Honorable Cordwainers Company.

There is a vast archive on the subject going back several years.

Check it out!

Thanks for the information and I would definitely be interested in seeing how you do that,

Moe.
