Hey gang....here's the latest from Double U Leather. The customer who ordered this, saw the other filagree belt I posted here and on Facebook, and ordered one. The only difference is his initials on the tip, and a whale of lot bigger than the one that's in inventory!! Anyway, take a look at it and let me know what you think. Thanks for looking, and be Blessed.

P.S. My 18 year old son just paid me the biggest compliment ever. He said, "Dad, you need to change your screen name....you ain't no rookie no more!" Maybe I'll take him up on that.

Oops....this was supposed to go in the Show Off section. Oh well.

Hi There, the belt looks really good. I've never tried making a filigree belt but I really like how they look. Your tooling looks really nice. What did you use to get the nice blue background?

Very nice work. What weight of leather did you use?

I'm wanting to try this out really bad and I am about to ask an extremely dumb question so brace yourselves. Are you ready? Good. What did you use to make the cuts so perfect in the sharp corners? Exacto knife? Some sort of strange triangle shaped punch? Getting corners that clean is nerve wracking to me at least. I try this out when I'm confident with my skills and its always sure to drop me down a peg or two.

That is very well done. I used to make these back in the 70's and early 80's. None as pretty as that though, well done.

beautiful work... what weight leather are you doing the carving on and do you line the back with another piece of veg tan?

I really like how the blue contrasts with the brown. I think I'll save that pic as a later reminder. I've been wanting to do a filigree belt for myself. I have the blank but can't seem to find a pattern that suits me. I'm just not a flowery type of guy so Sheridan style won't cut it.
