Members Maureen Posted February 17, 2011 Members Report Posted February 17, 2011 we are about to use some scrap stingray hides to make cuff bracelets. I got some aluminum cuff blanks to use. What would be the best glue to permanently attach the leather to the metal? Would an pseudo-epoxy like E6000 be better than contact cement? Quote
Members Randy Cornelius Posted February 17, 2011 Members Report Posted February 17, 2011 The epoxy may be the best as most cement don't adhear to metel very well. Be sure to scuff up the metal with 80 grit sandpaper or use a grinding wheel esp. if it has a crome or galvized coating. Quote
Members Spinner Posted February 17, 2011 Members Report Posted February 17, 2011 +1 to Randy's response. scuff the metal and most expoxies won't let go. Gorilla Glue also came out with a non-expanding white glue last year that I have been having good luck with. Very strong but less mess than the original. Quote
Members leathervan Posted September 13, 2011 Members Report Posted September 13, 2011 there is a web page www.thistothat.com that should help. If the link doesn't work google thistothat. Quote
