Tab Report post Posted March 7, 2011 I am making leather items that will be subjected to salt water. Should I seal the flesh side? And if so with what? I have been using Latigo, would some of the oily leathers be better? I left a sheath out in the rain and the next day it seemed to have a black mold on it. Not sure and it would not brush off. Sixer Report post Posted March 7, 2011 What kind of leather goods are you making? Not sure about the salt water, but I would definite seal the inside (flesh side). I personally like to use Super Sheen Spray on the outside of my holsters and a 50/50 mix of Acrylic Resolene and water on the inside. YMMV

terrymac Report post Posted March 8, 2011 Bees Natural Products put out a saddle oil with a fungicide that will stop mold from growing. It was developed for saddle makers in humid climates that have a real proble with mold and mildew. Might help with your problem Terry
