skienite Report post Posted March 11, 2011 Trying to help a friend resurrect an old Consew 225 to sew leather tack and harnasses. Got the machine cleaned up and running by using the manuals I found online, but I'm having incredible trouble with the thread tensions. I've followed all the instructions in the manual about threading and adjusting tension, but I can't seem to get the top tension loose enough or the bobbin tension tight enough to keep the machine from pulling the bobbin thread up through the work. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

CowboyBob Report post Posted March 25, 2011 When you thread the bobbincase are you sure your getting it in the slot & under the spring correctly? It's also possible that you need a new bobbincase spring. Bob
skienite Report post Posted June 6, 2011 Sorry for the huge gap in response time. Just got back to trying to work on this machine. As for threading the bobbincase, I'm following the only instructions I could find online for a similar machine. The machine I am working has similar internals but looks older, with a solid, cast body. I 'shopped this up from the instructions to try and show what I'm doing: If you still think the spring needs replacing, any information on where to get one would greatly be appreciated. Thanks again!
