Nighthawk Report post Posted March 24, 2011 Lovely!! How did you reclaim the leather? I tried that once- I soaked it and oiled it and worked it... and it still cracked. What did you do to replenish the oils and soften the leather?

What did you do to replenish the oils and soften the leather? It all depends on the leather and the condition. This was from a 1940 military field equipment pouch that was in outstanding condition, I didn't have to do much to it but clean with Leather New then lightly condition with mink oil. Razz Report post Posted March 26, 2011 Reclamed strap good idea, din't think of doing that, I've been putting of getting a new watch strap. Never really thought of making my own. Recycling a strap great idea. The one I have is looking a little scraggly. Sturdy, classy looking nice edges and I like the off angles at the tip. Great work.
