Contributing Member Jordan Posted May 23, 2008 Contributing Member Report Posted May 23, 2008 I took a break from sandals project and did this cover yesterday. I tried to get a sunburst effect but since I haven't found or figured out how to use a airbrush I did it by hand using mahogany antique on the edge and medium brown antique in the center. This one will be going on consignment at a local christian book store along with other stuff I have yet to think up and make. I figure I may be able to get some exposure and business. Tried to upload last night but something was screwy so I am trying again. Quote
Members sodapop Posted May 23, 2008 Members Report Posted May 23, 2008 i think its looks excellent jordan!!...the color, layout & tooling really captures the essence of my idea of a bible cover... darryl Quote
Members wildrose Posted May 23, 2008 Members Report Posted May 23, 2008 That is really beautiful - just shows that you don't need an airbrush necessarily to get a nice effect like that. Quote
Ambassador Luke Hatley Posted May 23, 2008 Ambassador Report Posted May 23, 2008 Jordan........you are doing great..........A +.hope you get alot of orders from the book store.. Quote
Members CitizenKate Posted May 23, 2008 Members Report Posted May 23, 2008 I really like that, Jordan. I never would have guessed the shading around the edges was done by hand. Nice work! Kate Quote
Contributing Member Jordan Posted May 23, 2008 Author Contributing Member Report Posted May 23, 2008 Thanks for all the nice comments, was mostly lots of rubbing and reapplying and trial and error, more the latter I think. Quote
Members Spider Posted May 23, 2008 Members Report Posted May 23, 2008 I can totally see a vampire hunter going into battle carrying this. Very nice. Quote
Contributing Member rdb Posted May 23, 2008 Contributing Member Report Posted May 23, 2008 Looks rich! Should be a good seller. I've got an old Family Bible, that has a middle section to fill in all the names and dates...births, baptisms, deaths, etc. An idea for you maybe to add a flip up section on one of the inside flaps to add a pad of paper, or something like that, so people can add their Family stuff there. Ambassador Beaverslayer Posted May 24, 2008 Ambassador Report Posted May 24, 2008 Jordan, I really love the way you've colored this, especially the inside flaps. It gives it such a rich older look. Great job. Ken Quote
Contributing Member Jordan Posted May 24, 2008 Author Contributing Member Report Posted May 24, 2008 I have thought of adding a slot to slip a pad of paper in and incorporate a pen/pencil holder of some type, if I get real adventurous I may do one with a zipper or at least a snap/strap combo. Quote
Members Dagr Posted May 24, 2008 Members Report Posted May 24, 2008 Really really nice, love the colors! Quote
