CavalryTrooper Report post Posted April 18, 2011 Howdy, I had a request to make a custom swing arm bag for a Harley softail. Now I am no biker and have no idea what a swing arm is!! That really doesn't matter, though. What I need to find is a pattern for this type bag. If I find a pattern, I can make the bag. Does anyone know where I can find a patters short of tearing up an old one? Thanks!
Spinner Report post Posted April 18, 2011 Here's what a swingarm bag looks like (from sideroadcycles.com): The problem you'll find in securing a pattern is that most folks make their own patterns and nearly each one is going to be bike make/model specific. Unfortunately I don't have one to share but maybe one of the other bike guys will.

Jimbob Report post Posted April 21, 2011 hey there... Go and get two ice cold beer....one for you and one for the dude you gonna ask if you can hold some brown paper to the swingarm thingy....then trace, draw and make a pattern right of the bike....make sure you mark where the dude wants the straps....drink the beer, go home and trace to poster board....lay out the skirts and top flap.....make it three dimensional with the help of a little tape....get some more cold beer......lay out on LATIGO leather...trace, cut ( meanwhile get another beer....) sew it up....add hardware....call dude with the softtail buy two more beer and then sit together in front of the bike and and drink up!! Done..!! Hope that helped.... Jimbob
