Members 276ccm Posted May 30, 2011 Members Report Posted May 30, 2011 Hi, I´m not sure what they are called, but it´s adverticed as a shoe maker machine.. Does anyone know if this would be good to sew really thick leather? I´m mostly working with motorcycle related products and uses veg tanned leather with 3 - 5 mm thickness, so where the leather is stitced together there might be up to 10 mm thickness.. anyone know? :-) Pictures of the machine: Quote
MADMAX22 Posted May 30, 2011 Report Posted May 30, 2011 Very cool sewing machines but from my understanding they max out at 1/4" thickness. They are apparently invaluable for those awkward areas that are hard to get to. Its a 29 class im pretty sure. I am no pro sewing machine guy though. Quote

You will need a machine with a higher capacity. This machine will only handle a 69 thread and thats way too thin for motor cycle bags and such stuff and it will sew max. a 1/4" of leather. Life will be better when your machine has some over capacity for the work it is supposed to do. My two cents / Knut Hej. Såg nu att du är Norrman ! Denna maskin klarar inte mer än 6-7 mm läder och väldigt tunn tråd så det blir problem när du skall sy motorcykelväskor i tjockt läder. Har skickat dej ett meddelande ! Members 276ccm Posted May 30, 2011 Author Members Report Posted May 30, 2011 Here you go: This one defiantly loos sweet, but I was more thinking of brands and model names I could look for at the second hand market :-) I know in most cases it will pay off to get the top of the line machine, but right now I have to look for something as cheap as possiblebut still work for my purposes.. :-) Quote
