Leather In The Garage? Around The House?

Hey all, I'm working on my garage over here doing a bit of a cleanup and spruce up and all that. I'm itching to get stuff set so I can hang up my signs and finish it up. I got to thinking that I don't use leather around the house for my decorating. I mean, I use it to make stuff that's ordered but I don't use but around the house like a material I depend on. Am I a traitor to the leather craft? I know a lot of times we build stuff for personal use, equipment with particular jobs and purposes. But what about decor?

Anyway, just wanted to see how yall have used leather around the house, or garage, to decorate. Any wall decorations? Accents? Stuff like that. No furniture. I'm not really needing a leather couch or end table.

I haven't yet, but the wife and I chatted about making a couple things after I get my skill level up a bit. a couple of cabinet door to cover, and I want to do a wall hangin or two. that kind of things, but nothing yet.

I've been thinking about wall things too. I'm terrible at creating ideas but when I see something great I think "Why didn't I think of that?"

I've tried, but my wife told me 'no'. She said she's not at all interested in "abstract art". I told her it's "floral". She said, "uh-huh." I think I displayed some wisdom by not bringing it back up.

Dream catchers, pictures, etc. All over the house. Some by me, some by other artists :-)

I have a few leather items around the house, some leather lightswitch plate covers, A lamp shade accent, a picture or two, leather pillow etc. I have some larger project ideas but we all know how that goes....... kind of like a plumber who's home has leaky faucets LOL

WHAT A DUMB QUESTION! Of course I have the...in the guest bedroom and the oh uh oh..in the the uh dining room, no not there, uh bedroom???oh that. Not really a decoration more of a a ....tool.....?

Back home Mom had made a lamp kit with the mini saddle from Tandy.

I met a woman at an art fest that made some really nice sewn leather pictures. I'll see if I can dig her card out.

Hubby always asks me why we don't have more of my art work around the house...

and the answer is simple

I see ALL the mistakes! everytime I look at something I created, I see the little thing I would do different next time.. so I never end up putting it up on the wall.

My execption is the garden sculptures I make.. they are designed to be rough cast so it doesn't bother me.. there are quite of few of those sticking their heads out around the place.

I took a break from an order and whipped these out. Nothing fancy - just cut, edge, punch and set, but I felt productive...as I goofed around. Just a little example of how I'm putting leather to work around the house and garage. I got a handful of wrench sets that need keepin' together. I guess we can call these wrench wraps

That's funny you mentioned switch plate covers, I did the same thing in my work room I totally relate with the plumber!

LOL I had a long time friend pull me aside one day I was visiting her. She quietly asks, "Do you make like leather chaps? Not the horse riding kind..."

Ummhmm, I can see me thinking the same way. Unless of course I have some adult beverages while I work on home projects. Then I can blame something as I laugh it off that my Texas shaped clock came out looking like Florida

Holy cow - that's expensively cool. I can smell the leather (and time and money) just by looking at those pics! Maybe when we build our dream house I'll plan on big decor like that.
