AndyL1 Posted September 1, 2011 Report Posted September 1, 2011 Hey gang, So here is the final version of the coat of arms I've been working on. It's for my Mother-In-Law's family as a surprise for them as they are visiting from Germany. Christ is their last name (possible relation?) It's done in 5/6 veg tan, painted with acrylics and antiqued. Anyway, check out the step-by-step in this thread: http://leatherworker...showtopic=34110 Thanks all! Andy Quote

Members jestermg Posted September 1, 2011 Members Report Posted September 1, 2011 Very Nice piece of art there! I do have a question. You say you painted the leather with acrylics and then antiqued. So after you painted it, did you seal it with a block resist or Super Shene first? Let that dry and then apply the antique? Quote
Members HellfireJack Posted September 2, 2011 Members Report Posted September 2, 2011 That's a fabulous piece of work. Very nice. Quote

Oh yeah, forgot to mention I did apply a coat or two of super sheen on just the painted bit before antiquing. This way the paint wouldn't wipe out accidentally. I let the antique stain the background areas though. That's a fabulous piece of work. Very nice. Thanks! Quote
