I was following this forum for while, but I was hesitat to post any carving after I see creative people in sheridan style... any way these two are my second try at sheridan carving, C&C are welcomes to correct my mistakes in next project... by the way the design is not mine... The beveling is much better in second photo than first so we can assume you are getting better Cut your finger nails very short. Looking at the second piece, like was stated above, play with your lifters, they are meant to add depth but try not to push down the stems or background behind where you are lifting.
