Nooj Report post Posted September 27, 2011 I'm just curious if anyone else orders from Scovill.com or Dotfasteners.com (the dotfasteners.com is a Scovill website). How was your experience with them, and have you had to deal with customer service before? I ordered some various caps and sockets, and some of the screw studs (male part of the snap- but made onto an 8/32 screw). After patiently waiting for about a MONTH, my order finally arrives... But the screw studs were not in the box Now- I understand that processing and shipping could take a few days- but the address for this company is in Clarksville, GA, only about 2 hours away. So, what on earth caused my order to take a month to arrive?? I ordered some t-nuts from McMaster-Carr that same day, and they arrived the next day. I've called customer service. Left a message a time or two. No response yet.... The stuff I received looks nice; But, if I'm gonna have to wait a month then get screwed with a short order, I believe I'll find another supplier. Nooj Report post Posted October 12, 2011 Well, I was able to contact someone at scovill via email. The explanation I received was that there had been some problem with the machine that makes the screw studs and that portion of my order hadn't been shipped. I'm glad that it wasn't just an oversight that left me with a short order, but a little warning would've been nice. At least I know what's going on now. Machines break, orders get backlogged. It happens. If I had a nickel for every time my screw stud machine broke down... Just wanted to fill in the rest of the story. Nooj
Art Report post Posted October 12, 2011 I've never been shorted by them. If you want quality fasteners, then you have to order ahead. I don't think it should take a month although maybe a Huge order was right in front of you that cleaned them out of something. Those big companies produce on cycles and maybe they were just cleaned out and out of time with the production facility. Like I said, I usually don't have any problems with them, but when it gets here is ... when it gets here. JS22 Report post Posted November 3, 2011 I remembered seing this post some time back and felt I needed to add my 2 cents. I too ordered snaps from DOT fasteners what will be a month ago tomorrow 11/3/2011. 3 weeks into waiting with no charge on my card, I called to inquire and was told they were waiting on 1 item and that my order would ship by that Friday. That was last Friday, nearly a week ago now and no shipment. I called this past Tuesday 11/1/2011 to again inquire. This time I was told the order was ready and would ship Wednesday 11/2/2011. Now I'm not sure if the package is in the mail but I can't see them shipping it without first charging my card or atleast putting the money on hold. Neither of which has been done. Aside from the fact that they are obviously slow in fullfilling orders, as previously posted, but they are extremely difficult to get a hold of. I have yet to have anyone actually answer the phone. I have had to leave stern messages to get someone to call back both times. My advice, which I intend on following myself, is to pay a little more somewhere else and deal with alot less hassle. I can't recommend this company to anyone. Your experience may vary.

Immediately got an automatic reply. But my account was never debited and the snaps didn't arrive. Finally I ordered some snaps from a reseller. They arrived. And then, the snaps I arrived directly from DOT arrived. It took about five weeks. But everything I ordered arrived. tk
RawhideLeather Report post Posted December 12, 2011 I'm not surprised to hear they are in bankruptcy. They are the worst company I've ever had to deal with by far. Every time I have to order more snaps I dread it because I know it is going to be a major headache. Trying to get a hold of someone is nearly impossible and they rarely have returned my calls. Takes forever to arrive too. Just bad...
woodandsteel Report post Posted December 13, 2011 Hmm... sorry to hear that. I was planning on ordering some soon. At the moment, I buy my pull-the-dot snaps from Paragear.com.
Nooj Report post Posted December 21, 2011 They did take quite a while to get my entire order shipped to me. If you're in no hurry for your parts, or order far ahead of when you expect to need them, then it wouldn't be an issue. They are excellent quality though, I must say. I hope they work out their issues and continue making good quality fasteners. The fact that they're made in the USA is another reason I will use them (or their products, anyways- perhaps from a reseller). I'd rather wait five weeks for an order made right here in GA, than only five days for parts shipped from China. Nooj
