CustomDoug Report post Posted November 14, 2011 I've been in search for a particular shade of green leather (somewhere between olive and apple), a color that's not been really easy to locate. I came across a side of "patent leather" that looks close to that color. I'm going to be making a duffle bag and this side is marked at 3.5 oz - would that be about right? Anyway, I was wondering if it would be feasible to strip the gloss off (at least most of it) since I'm not after the sheen? BTW, this is not synthetic leather but true cowhide. Acetone maybe? Rhonda Report post Posted December 10, 2011 Believe it or not I was taught to use laquer thinner to deglaze. But thats when you want to take the glaze off so that you can Glue that side to another piece of leather. Put a small amount on a rag and rub gently, test this first on a small area.
