Dipping Leather Into Dye?

I have a ton of small leather belt loops for IWB holsters that need to be dyed, has anyone ever tried submerging leather fully into the dye?

What should I be concerned about if I do this?

I do it all the time. Wear gloves. Do a test piece first for color (let it dry). Drop them in. Take them out, pat dry on a towell. Buff them with a rag when they dry. if the color is too dark,

Yes, and buff it anyway, it's the dried "dye stuff" that rubs off.

Also, oil the leather afterward.

But do any crease lines on the edges before dye.

Also trim edges and skive before dye.

I left off the rest of the sentence: If the color is too dark, add isoprople alcohol to dilute the dye. I am assuming you are using Fiebings.

I prefer to dip dye and only dye one side when the back will be visible and aesthetically better if undyed. Your dye job will be much more even using dip dying, just my opinion.
