Ha ya that works. What makes a name hard for me is the different types of folks that I have sold to and will sell to. Hard to think of a brand that say the bike community and folks like my parents would also want. Walmart has a blue shirt for 5.00 the same shirt with a brand name on it is 20.00. So the brand name is everything, that product (shirt) had nothing to do with the price.

Mine was based on wanting something that sounded western but would still work with a larger group, Drygulch Leatherworks. I do know there is a Drygulch Bead Company, and a Drygulch Trading Post. Both are mulitple states away from me, and I didn't see much over lap. As long as its not offensive, you don't really have to explain your company name. Had another bussiness dealing with aquarium fish called Drygulch Aquatics, and prior to that was a partner in Sonoran Aquatics. I would find some thing that you identify with, and find some variations on the word. You can call it Iron Leatherworks, Iron Arts, or use different descriptions.

From the grump again; Something along this line came up back in October. Here's my response from back then, maybe it'll get the creative juices flowing a bit. Mike

Names are not too hard to come up with, just think about your surroundings or maybe and incident or two. Ever had your car crunched? ..... Busted Ford Leather; got a single tree in your yard ....Lone tree Leather; ever 'over did' your steaks on the BBQ? .... Burnt Steak Leather; have a dog that loves to jump on you when you come home? .... Jumping Dawg Leather ......... live in a valley, Deep Valley Leather; Live in an area with a lot of trees .... Tall trees Leather, Many Trees Leather, Big trees, Skinny trees, Maple Trees, Pine Tree, Oak Tree, Dead Tree, Hanging Tree, etc. Live out on the flats .... Flatland Leather; Live in the city ... Big Towne Leather, Old Town Leather, Hometown Leather, are you left handed .... Southpaw leather, Lefty's Leather, Wrong Hand Leather; a nickname? Shorty's, Flash's, (I worked with a VERY rotund gentleman once, we called him 'Tinkerbell' , although that might not be too good). My son was called 'the kid from the shop' for years until he became a 6'4" 230# adult, but The Kid's Leather isn't too bad. This can go on and on. Just think around and out of the box, you'll be able to come up with something ... then on to a logo from there. Mike

P.S. You could substitute 'Enterprises', 'Arts', 'Project', Artistry', 'Craft', etc instead of 'leather'.

P.P.S. I have lived in the desert southwest for around 60 years --- lot's of ideas around that, so naturally I came up with 'Katsass' , but that's a different story.

It might pay to choose a name based on available web domains. You may want to choose one that will come up in a Google search for your products or services.

My business name is LadyKahu Designs. Kahu is maori for hawk, and where I grew up in New Zealand I loved watching them soar around the hills as a kid. LadyHawk is a favourite movie of mine. I went with 'designs' as it was generic and started using it when I made leadlight windows back in NZ, then again when I started making and selling garden statues here in aus.. and it works for leather as well :-)

Ya good ideas for a business name. I guess I'm looking for more of a brand new to market. Thank you to all that replied. We have so many names being kicked around that it's time to narrow them down some. I will post up the top ten when we get it dow to that.

i like to keep things simple but still get my name out there and it's easy to remember.

DRAKE'S CREATION'S

my interests tend to vary a lot and i never know what i will decide to make tomorrow.

this covers everything and does not lock you into any specific category.
