joshk Report post Posted February 7, 2012 I've been wanting to do a "modern western" rig lately and finally spent a few sleepless nights working one up.... this started off as the pattern from page 30 of Stohlman's holster book then was completely reworked and modified.... I added a bit more access to the grip area as well as full trigger coverage.... put a speed cut on the front to allow for a quicker draw.... modded it to fit a regular 1.5" gunbelt.... thanks for looking! Rayban Report post Posted February 7, 2012 Nice work, really looks good. School me about the screws, I don't get that.
joshk Report post Posted February 7, 2012 thanks Rick! the top screws attach the body of the holster to the rear strap and keep a nice tight channel on a 1.5" wide belt.... the bottom screws were an alternate to rivets that allow the center strap to be changed or removed.... Kcinnick Report post Posted February 8, 2012 From the old grump; you done good on that one --- I like the ostrich shin inlay. Mike Do you have a pattern of that mag pouch, or a different angle to see how everything is attached. Your holster design is giving me lots of Design ideas..... I didn't mean to quote that last post, for some reason it won't let me edit, I would still love a pattern or more views of that mag carrier.

joshk Report post Posted February 10, 2012 thanks everyone! I appreciate the comments and compliments! Kcinnick.... I don't have a template or pattern for the mag pouch.... it was something I'd been wanting to try out and worked it up out of a scrap piece of leather.... it was very easy to pull off since it's just a simple wraparound pouch.... the main thing is you have to stitch the belt loop before you stitch the seam along the mag.... Mrs Barry Hicks Report post Posted February 21, 2012 well I am looking to get into the holster making thing... and that right there is awesome! You've already got me thinking about some new ideas. Really beautiful work there. I can't wait to show my husband. And I am also really glad I purchased the Stohlman holster making book. Your work shows that it can be brought up to the modern speed.
