Members DoubleBarP Posted February 12, 2012 Members Report Posted February 12, 2012 (edited) I don't want to reinvent the wheel. Wondering if anyone has a "chart" they are willing to share that can be used as a quick reference for Leather thickness. Ie. 1/8" – 6-7 oz…. Thanks for the help. Contributing Member JLSleather Posted February 12, 2012 Contributing Member Report Posted February 12, 2012 http://www.tandyleatherfactory.com/en-usd/home/infoandservices/leatherguide/leatherguide.aspx This is right from the Tandy online site. Temper this with the fact that not everyone's "8 oz" is exactly the same. Always a good idea to stand there looking at the leather you're buying (period). Rule is, an "ounce" is 1/64" thickness. So, 8/9 oz SHOULD be in the 1/8" range. The piece I'm currently cutting belts from actually measures .144, which is about right (8-9 "ounce" is .125-.140). Quote "Observation is 9/10 of the law." IF what you do is something that ANYBODY can do, then don't be surprised when ANYBODY does.

DBP when I shop I have a u.s. quarter with me. One quarter (edge) is real close to 1/16" or 4 oz leather- 2 quarters stacked is 8 oz. etc etc pete Quote
