Members kowoshisan Posted February 26, 2012 Members Report Posted February 26, 2012 hi my name is richard, i am from vienna/austria i am new to leatherwork and to this forum. My first topic is about a stamp, i am looking for. Do not now, if that is custom, or where i can buy it. Try to describe it in my poor english. looks like a beveler, that bevels both sides, like a V or also good a U in the leather. Perfect would also be one that brings a U outside the leather. Made a sketch for better understanding. and i post also a picture ( hope that is OK) from xian leather where you can see how the tool works. i am glade that i have found this place, where i can find so much know how and inspiration. regards from vienna richard Quote

Members kowoshisan Posted February 26, 2012 Author Members Report Posted February 26, 2012 oh thank you, are there other options, on the picture it looks like it makes a very broad V. but i will order it thank you Quote
electrathon Posted February 26, 2012 Report Posted February 26, 2012 The edging is done with an edging tool. It has a screwdriver like handle and you pull it along the edge to make the line and smooth edge. The other lines look to me like you want to cut them in with a swivel knife. The double line (#4) is cut with a special blade. Aaron Quote
Members kowoshisan Posted February 26, 2012 Author Members Report Posted February 26, 2012 and the lines with the small dots ( the atom design), i think they are cut with a swifle knife and than ??? i looks like a thin (round???) line in the leather. r Quote

Available in "V" or "U" shapes, for making tight folds. http://www.tandyleatherfactory.com/en-usd/search/searchresults/31811-00.aspx Edited February 26, 2012 by JLSleather Quote "Observation is 9/10 of the law." electrathon Posted February 27, 2012 Report Posted February 27, 2012 I think 4 was done with this blade: http://www.tandyleatherfactory.com/en-usd/search/searchresults/8029-00.aspx Quote

King's X Posted February 28, 2012 Report Posted February 28, 2012 The dots are probably done with a tool commonly referred to a "seeder." Quote Greetings from Central Texas! The Grain Side Up blog #TheGrainSideUp
