Every time I apply finish to a project after staining, some of the stain rubs off. I am using Eco-Flo stains and Eco-Flo Super Shene finish. At one point, I accidentally got my wallet project soaked while working on a friend's car in a hurricane. The stain came almost completely off! Am I doing something wrong here? I thought I was following the instructions correctly, but I've had problems with following instructions in the past. Any suggestions would be very much appreciated. Thanks! Ken FWIW from the old grumpy guy; as said, Eco-flo is kind of the redheaded step-child on here. What's happening is, since the dye(?) is water based (as is the finish) when you rub the finish on --- it reacts with the dye, picking it up and doing nasty things to your project. One way to apply the finish without physically rubbing rubbing it on, is to take an old Windex pump sprayer and 'mist' on a coat of the stuff.--- let it dry for 10 minutes or so, and apply another coat. radar67 Report post Posted February 27, 2012 I've read everyone's comments about Eco Flo and I continue to use it. I seal my projects with Acrylic Resolene mixed 50/50 with water (another water based product). I don't have issues with dye coming off. After I dye the project, I let it dry for 24 hours, then I buff the crap out of it until there is no transfer to the buffing cloth. I seal the project and let dry 24 hours then buff again. I seal both sides as well. During Mardi Gras, I was caught in the rain with a leather arm bracer. It was soaking wet, but the water just rolled off. TrojanRabbit Report post Posted February 27, 2012 Thanks, everyone, for all of the comments! Hmmm... maybe I'm not using it correctly (I do not buff it at all until the finish is dry). But I may just change to a different product and give that a shot. Or try it both ways and see what works best for whatever I'm trying to do. It's all a learning process, right? Get a bottle of Resolene, . . . like Radar said, . . . it works. I do the exact same thing he spoke of, . . . I have never had one project, . . . one piece bleed through Resolene, . . .
