Your lacing is outstanding. How did you finish the edges on the bib? They look square from the photo. Otherwise, very nice. Great job. I need to make a roll, any tips?

Thanks buddy,I have picked up my lacing tips from guys on here,I love that mexican braid but damn its hard work LOL!

the edges are just straight cut with a sharp blade n a steel ruler then i singe them off with a lighter.

my next bib i am gonna do for my self and use a bit of inspiration from Spinner a member on hereand braid the edges of the bib.

heres another roll i just finished today.Any Tips? Yeah if you gonna braid it have plenty patience.LOL!!

Dude, that braid is killer. It might be a royal PITA, but you sure do it justice. I gotta learn how to do that.

Thanks,

Jon

Its the mexican braid,

I got the instructions of here,http://dcknivesandleather.blademakers.com/

top left of page Click on knife info then click on lacing tutorial and follow instructions,

i found 5 holes to inch best for tight braid on tool rolls using 5mm lace with the brass tandy lacing needle

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/120792085003#ht_500wt_1055

Hope this Helps

JJ

Thanks, copied everything down. One more question. Are using a lacing chisel, or round holes? And, what weight leather are you using?

Thanks,

Jon

Actually thats TWO, LMAO!!!!

I am using round holes aprox 4mm but using an awl to enlarge when going through double if you know what i mean,

my leather is actualy 2.5 to 3 mm split,I,m using this cos i got it cheap but 3mm veg tan would be good,if not better.

sorry i do not know how to convert it to ounces.

there is a chart on here somewhere.

Also you will use aprox 1 ft of lace for every inch of braid.

Here is a very informative site with instructions for this braid and many others plus other interesting things,

check it out.

Hey thanks Chris,

your praise is indeed much appreciated ,though i got a long way to go before i git anywhere near your amazing skills my friend,

I gotta thank you for getting me back into the leather stuff after 12 years off it,I saw your stuff on the Aero forum n thought i got to have a go at that again,

heres some of my "old" stuff,post-22861-052865400 1333555808_thumb.jppost-22861-039878900 1333555782_thumb.jppost-22861-019283800 1333555789_thumb.jp

Not real fancy i know but i sold quite a few of those things for quick draw/re-enactment etc back then.
