chancey77 Report post Posted April 7, 2012 Great design and look Chancey. Cigar chompin' Hog, I like it. Say, what kind of pan are you using and also what do you use for padding? My pans are custom made for each bike:) This one was handed to me by the owner.... I love it when that happens! Already made by him specifically for this frame...it is getting a hydraulic shock mount:) For padding I use a black closed cell foam. It is dense but it still has some bounce. It is about 1" THICK. They use the same stuff to insulate pipes in the far north for winter. I buy it by the Sq. Meter..60€per sq mtr.

Not sure what your limited with tools, but getting creative and working with what you got is sometimes to cool part (or frustrating part) when it comes to metal. Phatdaddy Report post Posted April 9, 2012 I really like it, the camouflage around the perimeter threw me off for a moment, it looked like part of the braid or a row of stitching...Very cool. Kevin

ironhead13 Report post Posted April 9, 2012 I thought revetch only made blockhead style engines.... to replace a shovel??? Ultima makes a 96" shovel replica at a fairly decent price (at least compared to what S&S sells for). Can't wait to see the seat mounted.

From what old English Don is going through on his temporary Ultima shovel - I'd stick with an S&S.
ironhead13 Report post Posted April 10, 2012 From what old English Don is going through on his temporary Ultima shovel - I'd stick with an S&S. Yeah, don't know much about utima or revtech really (seen a few here and there but that's about it). Other than they come in factory "choppers" (I shouldn't have name them!). Though, I've heard some complaints lately about S&S's quality control as well. But, that's the way it goes. The red and black flamed Pan I posted a pick of, which belongs to a friend, used drag specialties wrist pins (rebuilt last year) which came lose last month and.... well.... it's being rebuilt right now again due to poorly manufactured parts. (why he choose drag I don't know..)

Ya it isn't a new shovel, he is keeping that off to the side for another project down the road it is a new 115 Revtech....which actually I have been hearing rumors that they are going or have already gone bankrupt since the news got out that they are NOT being made in the USA but actually being manufactured in Taiwan, and Custom Chrome has sold its manufacturing to Korea! Gee I wonder why we can't keep good American Factory jobs...everything that says made in America and starts strong then sells to Korea,China,Japan,Vietnam, and Taiwan! And to kick it in the nuts they have the balls to still mark it MADE IN USA!!!!! LIARS!!!!!!! To bring it back to the USA and have to mark up the price on the consumer and cut local jobs!!!!!!! It is just so mind blowing! WTF??????? ANyway...done with my rant and here is the motor that is going in...a Shovel BTW is a 100"....

Yeah, there's some stupid laws about that where they can still say made in the USA if it's just assembled here and crap like that. Not sure what the specifics are with these companies, but I feel the same way. There was a lot of Taiwan Ted stuff on my bike when we first re-built it due to budgeting and wanting to get it on the road. I've almost got it all replaced with real American made parts. ironhead13 Report post Posted April 11, 2012 Well I never planned on going with one of those brands. S&S or hd as far as im concerned. Hell those companies are one of the reasons why we can twin cams now instead of evo's as hd has a "better" patent on the tc than previous engines. I'll probably "make someone mad" by saying this, but lazy america doesn't help the situation one bit. I can't stand working with and for slackers.... but this could be a conversation that could last forever.

But, it's also in part because we've migrated from a production society to a service society. And, those who are working production just aren't happy, so there's lots of room for things to change. To many people that are good at what they do and work hard and recieve nothing of value in return, while some lazy pig in a suit rakes in all the cash sitting on his worthless .... butt. Trade and barter is where we should be instead of enslaved meaningless peasents handed a coin will being threatened to work faster. Honostly, Chancey summed up my thoughts in a post not to long ago though it was a non-related topic. The rich would not be so rich, and the day of inferior products you slaved for would be over. It's pretty sad, at least out here at the moment. You can get paid more for running a press break than tig welding. I suppose we got a bit off topic of the thread a little! chancey77 Report post Posted April 11, 2012 I suppose we got a bit off topic of the thread a little! It is my fault! I started the rant....ok we all know the tragedies surrounding us! What are we going to do about it???? MAKE A BITCHIN' HANDMADE PRODUCT!!!!!!!! People appreciate handmade work otherwise none of us would be here. I thank my lucky starts everyday! Beats all my old day jobs with a stick, and the only person that I have yell at me is my wife cause I'm a work-o-holic!
