Members tatehunt Posted April 9, 2012 Members Report Posted April 9, 2012 Just finished this to give to a friend headed to New Orleans for Jazz Fest. Tooled and painted, interior purchased from Springfield Leather (time crunch). Quote

Members tatehunt Posted April 13, 2012 Author Members Report Posted April 13, 2012 Thanks! Just a note of warning, hitting a finished piece with saddle lac to seal the acrylic is not recommended unless you like a warm patina. I have since found a good acrylic finish sealer which is clear. Live and learn... Quote

Members RustyD Posted April 13, 2012 Members Report Posted April 13, 2012 Looks Great! I like the detail to the brim of the hat, the shine that fades in and out really adds to the impression made by the "little things.." Also I think the Chaylor-Fenneli interiors look really nice. Thanks for sharing!! Quote
Members james m Posted April 13, 2012 Members Report Posted April 13, 2012 I'm guessing that you used a pre-made interior? Quote
Members tatehunt Posted April 13, 2012 Author Members Report Posted April 13, 2012 I'm guessing that you used a pre-made interior? Yep, was short on time with other projects, so I used the Chaylor-Fenneli passport insert from Springfield leather. Bought two and deconstructed one for pattern making. I want to do my own in pig. yeah found out the same thing but i like using shellac or deft lacquer on the outside grain side of my leather and then tan kote on the inside flesh side I hadn't thought of Shellac, great idea!
