I have Googled elsewhere and searched the forums here before posting, but I need some help from the experts! I just bought this machine, and I would love some help identifying it. It has "C-2971" on a decal and a serial number "8110227" but no other identifying marks or stamps.

And ideas? It works great and I got it threaded correctly using the manual on the TechSew website for their 2971 machine. (Also I know that it's not standard to use button and craft thread on a machine like this, I was just really excited to get it going and didn't have the proper thread.)

Hello,

It looks like a machine Chandler used to import years ago,we used to sell alot of them, the problem is the shuttle & bobbins were just alittle smaller than standard 29 machines.

Glad you were able to get it threaded it could get a little tricky. It's similar to our Techsew 2900 however ours is now completely made in Taiwan since we found the quality of patchers coming out of China not up to our standards.

You can use bonded nylon thread on it if you like, should be able to handle up to a size 69 or 90.

I think you just very politely said what I am thinking about most Chinese patchers.

The difference is night and day. Our Techsew 2900 and 2900L are some of the smoothest running machines we've ever had.

I have all but hung a sign on the door to tell people who have dropped shipped a Chinese patcher to "Go Away". The last three that have approached me have left with their machine untouched except for me to stick my finger into it and pull it out covered in metal shavings. Most of the ones arriving here now are virtually unworkable and I would have to completely strip and flush the machine body, replace all springs, shuttle carrier, gears etc with Taiwanese made equivalents. Let us just say the cost is more than they paid for the machine.
