Cobra 3 Vs. Toro 3000 For Gun Leather

Recommended Posts

I am trying to determine which machine to purchase and need some help.

I was planning to buy a "Boss" until I continued my research on here and found that for a little bit more money, I could purchase one of the two above machine that would allow me much more ease and speed (as well as quality). Unfortunately, the 4000 and the cobra 4 are too much. Can you all enlighten me on the advantages/disadvantages of the 3000 vs. cobra 3? From what I've been able to determine online, they look to be the same with the exception of maker and about $200. I am a hobbyist that makes primarily gun leather (holsters, mag, cuff cases, etc.) that has been encouraged to get get a little more serious about selling what I make.

Thank you all for your time and input. Also, if any of you have pics of work done on either of these machines (including backside) it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks again!

Charlie

I would Call Steve at Leathermachine CO. He may well have a good used machine that will serve your purpose and save you some money. Steve has set the standard for customer service. Also check the for sale section of this site. A dealer will have gone through the machine and have back up if you need it. If you don't have experience sewing and maintaining a sewing machine, that is invaluable. Hope this helps. Ken

Thanks for the input. I'll give Steve a call and see what he thinks.

Do not forget to call Bob at Toledo Machine. There are many machines to do the job you want.! Just another option.

Those two are basically the same machines. There are a few differences that may or may not be important. Depending on where you are, one dealer may have lower shipping costs than another. That can actually be pretty significant cost-wise. Another thing you might want to ask is what feet comes with the machine. The feet that Steve sells with his Cobras are a bit different than the feet that the Toro 3000s have. Depending on what you're trying to sew, this can make a big difference, especially in those tight spots.

As soon as I can make a deposit, I will be the latest "expecting father". Cobra 3 being paid for today with the highly anticipated wait to follow shortly there after.

I'll let y'all know.
