Singer 17-30

i recently added a singer 17-30 to my workshop, its old and dirty but in really great shape i ran a small piece of 4 oz chap though it for about 4 inches and it stitched! i was shocked i stopped i didnt oil it at this point but it rotates effortlessly just a couple of questions to anyone that may know specs on the machine capability max thickness of thread and material also cant seem to find a stitch length adjuster any help would be great cant wait to start using it thanks in advance

The stitch length is on the front,a knob that has a slot in the casting loosen it push it down for longer,it can use up#92 thread & sew 16 oz thick.
