sinpac Report post Posted July 21, 2012 I have two rolls of 1964 Tandy leather that were still sealed in the Tandy shipping paper. Of course is is as stiff as a board I was wonder if there was any way of bringing this back to life so I can tool on it. Did they even Veg Tan back then? TIA, Chis
electrathon Report post Posted July 21, 2012 Likely better to tool than most of what they sell now. I would rub some Lexol on it and try tooling it. Aaron

Art Report post Posted July 21, 2012 That was probably US tanned leather. I would try Montana Pitchblend, Pecard's, or another good oil and see how fast it takes it up and maybe even a second coat if it needs it. Let is stand a day or two afterwards so the oil can dustribute. It should tool well, but don't get used to it, you won't find much like it anymore.
