So I am a complete beginner in leather but have made a couple holsters and a mag carrier that came out decent. Was talking with the wife about some things I wanted to try like belts and other misc smaller work and she is all for it. Was stitching up a new rig last night ( by hand of course) and mentioned how if we ever fell into some extra cash how sweet it would be to have a machine. Well she sends me this Craigslist link with a Juki of some kind its at a consignment shop and they know next to nothing about it except it has a $500 price tag on it. That is getting close to affordable for me so i was wondering if anyone could I.D. it and tell if it is capable of what i would want to do with it? See pics below.

No,it won't work ,it's a machine made for high speed sewing in lightweight material like drapes, shirts,& use small thread. It might sew alittle over 1/4" of leather with # 69 thread.

Oh well probably best I hand sew for a while. Bob, thank you so much for the answer maybe you have a little guidance as to a machine to keep a look out for and what to expect to need to save.

Look out for a walking-foot machine (walking foot is a feeding mechanism that is strongly recommended when sewing leather or bulky materials. Helps feed everything evenly. Also known as compound feed or triple feed).

You should be able to find a good used machine for around $850 to $1000. New machines of this type range from $1000 to $1300.

Most dealers stock both new and used machines.

Good luck in your search!
