Ambassador Luke Hatley Posted August 26, 2008 Ambassador Report Posted August 26, 2008 Ray if i were to display Expensive Merchandice i would have a show case that i would open and close to hand the merchandice to the customer. Quote Luke
Contributing Member UKRay Posted August 30, 2008 Author Contributing Member Report Posted August 30, 2008 Nice idea, Luke, but I'm not sure I want to drag a showcase big enough for bags along to shows. That sounds like waaaay too much work for a lazy old man like me. I was wondering about a 'single wire' alarm system that will 'go off' if the wire is cut. I could thread it though the bags and as long as the circuit integrity was maintained it would stay quiet but if a thief chose to break the wire it would shout... Has anyone used anything like this - if so where did they get it from and how much was it? Drac Posted September 8, 2008 Report Posted September 8, 2008 here are a few pics of the set up I used for at Dragoncon. only thing I wish I'd done differently was have covering for the tables, but I wasn't even sure if I was gonna use the tables and had been awake for about 26 hours before loading in so I forgot about takng covers (and a few other things) anyway. Contributing Member rdb Posted September 8, 2008 Contributing Member Report Posted September 8, 2008 That's a wonderfully professional set up. Kudos, Drac. I just wish there was a closeup pic of the inventory. What are all those things? Quote Web page Facebook
Drac Posted September 8, 2008 Report Posted September 8, 2008 (edited) and a couple more pics. I have a very versatile set up system since each case can be set up "flat" or with a 90 degree angle or with whatever angle I need to fit into a space. they're also used as carrying cases since all I do is put foam inside (keeps everything from falling down and in place), close 'em and lock 'em. roll 'em in and out with a dolly. I used 4 cases for this show and set 'em all flat and hid the foam behind 'em. rdb um... "adult leather goodies". or depending on what state I'm in "historical reenactment pieces" or "adult leather goods for novelty use only". Members Windy Posted September 8, 2008 Members Report Posted September 8, 2008 Drac, I must say that is one of the slickest set ups I have seen. I like the case idea. That would make it nice at the end of a long show, five minutes and you are on the road home. Not to mention they keep the dust off your wares while in storage. Drac Posted September 8, 2008 Report Posted September 8, 2008 windy that was pretty much the idea for it. I've always had to do all the loading in, setting up, selling, breaking down and loading out by meself, so I came up with this idea. the original case had 2 wheels and was 4 feet by 5 1/2 feet when closed and opened like a... like a... ack! can't 'members the name of the things. 2 doors on the front that open to the sides. anyway, kept adding designs and items so now I'm at 4 cases that are 3 feet by 5 1/2 feet when closed and open like a book without wheels. I use a dolly and straps for loading in and out 2 at a time. the original case just barely fit into me old minivan, while the new ones had no problem fitting into the old minivan and have no problem fitting into the new one. the most recent addition to the cases are strips of metal flat bar along the tops so I can stick magnetic based lights up there as you can see in the pics. muuuuch better (and better looking) than the clamp lights I was using. Has anyone used anything like this - if so where did they get it from and how much was it? Ray, I've been away for a bit, looking after sick sheep in the middle of Scotland. There are some alarms available in the UK and sold as 'Personal Attack Alarms'. They're usually about the size of a large key-ring and are set off when a plug is pulled. They're usually quite cheap (£3 to £5 or so). They could be wired-up as part of an alarm system. Gary Quote
