Members CustomDoug Posted August 4, 2012 Members Report Posted August 4, 2012 those are what the Singer and Adler company copied to make their 29/30 line of patchers right? Quote
Members Sylvia Posted August 4, 2012 Members Report Posted August 4, 2012 (edited) How much of a discount on my machine will you give me if I can find info on this? LOL It looks like one that was made in 1871. See photo about here. http://www.ismacs.ne...s_machines.html Here is more info Tom. The stand seems to be something rather special I've not found anything on that yet. http://www.sewmuse.c...adburyindex.htm Here's a link for a manual $17. http://www.tias.com/...1922494788.html And here's a quicky on how to thread and oil. http://website.lineone.net/~bradbury1852/a1repairerthreading.htm Edited August 4, 2012 by Sylvia Quote
Members Mokosh Posted August 4, 2012 Members Report Posted August 4, 2012 That's a thing of beauty. I have the Singer 29-4 which is a pretty similar machine. Quote
Members machinehead Posted August 4, 2012 Members Report Posted August 4, 2012 The base looks like a Hengstenberg made in Germany. This company later was renamed the Bielefeld Sewing Machine Co I think. Quote
Members oldtimer Posted August 4, 2012 Members Report Posted August 4, 2012 I have had a machine, a spitting image of your machine, and it was labeled "Universal Majestic". Also I have seen your machine labeled Sackmann and Husqvarna here in Sweden. I think they were made i Germany? Fwiw/ Knut Quote
Members Anne Bonnys Locker Posted August 8, 2012 Members Report Posted August 8, 2012 This design of machine is so good that the Chinese still make it in a smaller form, although not made well. Quote
Members Chipster Posted August 14, 2012 Members Report Posted August 14, 2012 That is nearly identical to the machine that I posted on. chipster We here at Leather Machine Co. just got this old patch machine. I could not any pics online so I am posting them for your amusement. Quote
Members Uncle Dannie Posted March 22, 2013 Members Report Posted March 22, 2013 I got the Chinese one, sells for about $45, shipped. Problem is, you have to buy a minimum of 10 machines. I bought mine from a reseller for $130. It works, but not very elegantly. Quote
Members Anne Bonnys Locker Posted March 23, 2013 Members Report Posted March 23, 2013 The Chinese version can be made to work well with a bit of tinkering but it will never match the quality of the original as it is built to a price.I sell hundreds of the Chinese machine but I also have a Wertheim that shows them up for what they are. Keep in mind that the Chinese have trouble making a proper copy of the 29k72 Quote
