wyomingcowboy Report post Posted August 14, 2012 I was wondering how you splice harness/latigo leather for extra long items. I ordered some 9' long roping reins one time and the saddle shop said they would have to splice them. How does that work, and what does it look like? Is it sewn? Glued? bruce johnson Report post Posted August 14, 2012 Lap skive (tapered skive) and sew them is the most secure.
TomG Report post Posted April 12, 2013 (edited) After you taper them, can you use any sort of glue or adhesive before you sew them together? I need to make some 15' latigo leads, 1/4" wide, and would like the splice to be as invisible as possible. I'm just not sure whether contact cement or Barge cement or something else will stick to the Latigo. Thanks Tom Sorry for the dupe question - I posted this as a new topic and planned on deleting this one, but can't figure out how.
